This is my second attempt at creating my painted sculpture idea. The first one I tried to make a fiberglass mold of the plaster original so that I could make a fiberglass cast on which I would do the final painting. But the cast didn't turn out too good so I wound up just painting on the original Pasteur that was left. I made two copies one of which is to the left.
I am now working on my second project. I have started carving on it and the preliminary image is to the left. This one I am going to leave as the original plaster and paint over it and see if it is too heavy. I would prefer doing it that way because it will preserve my original sculpture as it was created.

Finally finished the sculpting part. This is pic of it recently gessoed (the orange tint is to bring out contrast). It is now ready to paint. Click for larger image.

Continuing progress on my art work.

I had a realization as I was painting this. I kept getting visions of me doing this type of painting in the past. I was also getting different feelings than usual. I looked at it and realized that I had done this type of painting before...but during Egyptian times, painting on bas relief surfaces in egyptian tombs and other buildings. Of course I couldn't be as abstract then as I am now:)

But explains a fascination I always had with egyptian art. Aug. 30, 05

Some more work done after a long

break.

Finally completed it, Jan. 6, 2006.

This looks so much better in 3D, that I may try to do a 3D anaglyph of it.

The green round object is the orb I captured in the Shanghai Tunnels

I did more of my eyes here, eyes seem to be an attention magnet, for example when you first meet someone you notice their eyes, a window to the soul. These eyes are windows from my soul:)
